Appletree Cottage is locally listed and that sits within the metropolitan green belt. The property has an 18th century cottage element and an arts and crafts gabled cross wing addition. The clients approached Place Architecture + Design to design spaces that were better suited to modern family living.
We designed a two storey extension with balcony to the side of the property, proposed a new pitched roof for the existing bay and re-modelled the interiors to allow for a beautiful new hallway and staircase at the heart of a home with a fantastic kitchen/dining/living space and large master bedroom. We also worked alongside a fireplace specialist who created beautiful surrounds and hearths for the older part of the home where we exposed the timbers to create characterful re-modelled rooms.
